I hope this is just a temporary down because I for one will never let you leave - You are CAP and there is no getting away from it - Once you arrive in London and attend the awards with 500 people having the greatest time ever and celebrating everything that is positive in this industry and then on to see the 1,500+ people at the expo you will realise that in reality CAP is stronger than ever and that it is without doubt because you are involved.

Hi Lou, my friend

In my opinion it would be a good idea to take a break and to get your health in check, however please don't leave CAP. It really would not be the same without you, and we all would miss you.
I apologize for never saying anything any sooner than today. As it is with everything else, I felt "this too shall pass" and I have been buried under my own pile of work.
Anyhow, I hope you still go to London so we can have some drinks together. Take a break and relax, but don’t leave. CAP needs you and the industry does too. In the end, you need to do what is right for you. I just don’t want to see you leave your baby behind.
Best Regards,
Ben -

Hi Lou,
Im an affiliate whos always buried in own work so I dont always keep up to date with whats going on in the industry.
Ive pretty much only come across this recent cardspike etc issue today after reading some of casinomeisters questions in another thread.
I dont particapate here loads, but I do refer to CAP and think its a great forum/community.
So thanks for that.
As regards the issues, if you have made mistakes, just come clean about everything and then work on the soloution. In my brief look at the recent issues it looks worse if others are uncovering evidence after denials. So come clean and stop this issue in its tracks and dont give others (who I also respect) the ammo. This industry should work together and not be at war with each other.
Consider starting a fresh and forging better relationships (if possible) with those that have been silenced on these boards. Or work out ways that through these tough times everything will work out for the better.
If its affecting your health take a break, but also take other peoples advice and consider not retiring. Or at least take time to think that important decision through. Its highly likely your not thinking straight at the moment anyway, so delay any decisions.
All the best. -

Lou,
Microsoft without Bill Gates will never be Microsoft.
I respect and understand your decision as each person knows the real weight of own cross. I would like to thank you for all your help to the community and to myself since forever.
Please consider this, if you are leaving because of the card-something situation, don't... or you might as well lock yourself in a room without an Internet connection. On the years I have lived, I have learned in the hard way that you can't just make problems disappear by running from them... the darn things will hunt you.
Whatever sensationalism that happened, the other guys have admitted they also did the same thing they were accusing you to. If you some how regret for something that you said in the past and just can't handle it, relax, go for a sunny vacation and think about it as been hasty sucks now and much more later on. As far as I can see, all you did or did not in this community until this day is no reason to give up.
Whatever you really do, thank you.

Prof
I think Big Fish said it exactly the way I would have said it.
I have no idea what the card spiking thing is all about, simply because I haven't been on the forums for weeks but quite frankly I have no interest in it either as I see you as the helpful person and founder of CAP who has taught me a lot and I am not happy to hear that you are considering leaving CAP
The fact is that there will always be ups and downs in this industry and unfortunately being in a high profile position you will always be used as a dart board - whether fairly or unfairly, but that goes with the territory of the job.
Whilst you are feeling really down right now and I can understand you wanting to throw in the towel, why not rather just take a break from the boards for a while - Do the London thing and then take Mrs Professor on a holiday and leave the laptop at home!!! ( I know that would be like cutting your right arm off but it needs to be done )
By the time you come back, everything will have settled down and become a distant memory and you will feel in a much better and healthier frame of mind and can then come to a final decision. -

Hi Prof,
CAP without you is unthinkable, and I think the reverse is also true. So even if you hand over the business to others, I am sure you will remain in the background and I think CAP members will appreciate that. But, please do us all a favour by making a clear statement about this CardSpike affair on some platform which is frequented by affiliates, like e.g. the Casinomeister forum. It will be a great service to the entire online gambling community.
With best regards

Signing Off
Professor:
I don't know any of the members here or at the gpwa but my thoughts are this. Both entities were set up as legimate businesses to benefit the owners/operators of said businesses. Along with that they have provided a forum for members of the gaming community to come ask for help, voice their opinions, trade ideas etc. I have been observing the whole thing from the sidelines and thinking to myself. Both the Cap and Gpwa have been acting in an unprofessional manner. Bottom line, this is a business! I think there is some incredible bitterness between the two entities but frankly that's the problem of the shareholders of those entities. Whether or not Cap or an affiliation of Cap had anything to do with Cardspike is not the root problem here. It is just another reason to sling sh** back and forth. Transparency in business that reaps the benefits of it's members and in this case affiliates is most important. I believe this is a forgiving industry to some degree, however if there is no transparency there can be no trust. Professor this is your baby as you have stated and your business, to leave it just because you can't take it anymore is silly. The members of Cap depend on you and the business model you have developed. Suck it up and continue with business as usual. Same goes for the gpwa, it is their business and their members depend on their business model. Both of you get over this rivailly which is unhealthy for this entire sector and move forward by shaking hands as gentlemen.

Lou,
I must say, i am a little disappointed in you! You have never struck me a someone who "gives up" and thats exactly what your doing???
I have looked up to you as someone who knows the business and takes care of business. This is not what i expected from you. How could you let someone else run you out????
You need to get off the pity train, and get back to business, takeing care of your "Baby" and its members, no one else can do the same job, in the same way, because they won't care as much as you do. I don't mean to sound cruel or unsympathetic, but your reasons for leaving are bull****! Don't let whats been going on the past few weeks, run you out of your own home.....i respect you, but not your decision, it sounds like giving up, and i do not except that from you.

I think others have said how I feel as well. I have remained neutral this entire time because I have very many friends tied up in this whole mess and 1 thing I have respected about ALL of them is not 1 of my friends have asked me to choose sides because I cannot and will not. I think that many like myself just wanted to stay out of this mess and get on with our work and provide for our families and really never thought about how far out of hand this was all getting. I think Professor you do need a break and spend some time fishing and then use that time to decide how your roll with CAP will continue.
This industry needs to come together and unite for a hard fight we have this year. Things are done in haste such as banning, might I suggest that only one person be in charge of that button? Maybe if someone is acting up you all can have a pow wow in your staff and do a vote on the banning before it takes place? You know too many Indians and not enough chief's can really cause havoc.
Edited to add it would be nice to see all the parties involved here to come to London and settle this thing once and for all.Last edited by bonustreak; 01-25-2009 at 02:50 PM.
