What Anti-Virus software protection do you use?
My McAfee subscription is about to expire so I wondered if I should renew for 3 years or look for something else. What do you guys use?
You may select more than one choice.Last edited by GamTrak; 12-13-2008 at 01:27 PM.

Hi all (G),
I had McAffee and got a virus they wanted me to go into DOS to get rid of.
I dumped them and got avasti - it so far has rocked.
I like it much better than McAffee -

I use AVG Free. Excellent. Just don't use one of these!

I've used Avira Free Anti-Virus and have for 2+ years now. It doesn't use a whole lot of system resources and has been very good to me so far. I tried switching to other programs a couple of times, thinking they must be better than a FREE one. But switched back every time.

If you are careful on what files you open up, you really don't need to have a anti-virus program in my opinion. To be on the safe side, AVG Free is good to use and it's free. If you have folks like me that open up every email file that ANYONE emails them
, then I would recommend Trend Micro. I have tested it on XP and Vista and it works great.
Cheers,

After using McAfee for years I decided to try something different based on my research which showed that that were other products that were better.
I tried NOD32 for approx 3 months and it seemed ok but didnt seem to catch anything even though my puter was acting funny. Kaspersky had some of the best reviews so I wanted to try it unfortunately I could not install it as it still thought I had McAfee installed (I didnt) and there wasnt an easy enough fix so I couldn't test it.
I recently installed Bit Defender and it found viruses that were missed by NOD32 and it seems to be an excellent choice at this point.
