Lol, the first REAL question to the Obama campaign gets a sarcastic remark and no further press penalty. Stallin would be proud of the quick and harsh response. After this election if Obama wins we can actually put a price tag on the Presidency.

how dare they ask a real question!!! They should really have their tounges removed for this.

Those weren’t tough questions. Those were ridiculous questions. I wonder where she got the questions??? Her husband is a Republican advisor. Here’s a good video comparing her “Republican talking points” questions for Biden & her hard-hitting interview w/ John McCain :sarcasm:

The question that asked about resdistributing the wealth and citing the Poll was a fair question, as were the “Will be Tested” and the make the country like “Sweden” question.

The Sweden question was a bit unfair, but even then, it’s a reasonble concern: “how far will the democrats go in regulating the market”.

I think Biden’s answers were good, except the sweden question. I would have wanted him to say “Well first of all while Sweden’s system may be to regulated for Americans, they have a very successful economy.”

i’d like to hear this(because this is the way i look at it), but don’t think it would go over well in the US:
“If the worst thing that ever happened to the US was to become just like Sweden, but to retain our freedom and power/leadership in the world, i could live with that.”

Its not so much the question, its the fact that they asked a question that was not on the obama plan and they took a shit, arrogant people expecting their paid media to only bow down to them. Thats the issue.

They took a shit? what were you watching? the only nasty response was to her quoting marx, which was about as stupid a question as comes. just because people like you have this notion that there is some left wing conspiracy to turn the country into North Korea, it doesn’t mean it’s true or that the rest of us buy into it.

The reason why “Tax and Spend”, and “Tax Cut” isn’t working for the Republicans this time is that most americans realize 1) They’ll never earn enough to get a taxcut from republicans 2) are worried they might be on the street soon and 3) They hope some of that tax money will help them when they end up homeless.

Be careful Chips, if you keep claiming it’s socialism during these troubled times, you might start convincing people to support the idea. Boy wouldn’t that be poetic justice! ;)

In UK, i’m told when you start a job (maybe only with larger employers) you get a contract for 12-18 months and basically you start a job with of a job guarantee that’s better than American Unions. Hey brits, correct me if i’m wrong.

Now the UK is still considered one just a couple of western european countries to really dump the old style socialism, and it’s still way more socialist than american under obama would be after 20 years, let alone the 8 that presidents are limited to.

I really like watching Rachel. She has a ton of personality and it’s always nice to hear from folks that is more inline with my view on this election. LOL

I’m sure that she won’t please everyone in her interview efforts and folks will bash her, but I”m really looking forward to seeing Obama and her chat about the election.

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow will interview Democratic presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama Thursday, Oct. 30 on MSNBC’s “The Rachel Maddow Show,” 9-10 p.m. ET.

Ugly insinuations about Barack Obama’s relationship with a former neighbor and university colleague, Rhashid Khalidi, are completely false.

Barack’s record on Israel is clear: he strongly supports the U.S.-Israel relationship. He believes that our first and incontrovertible commitment in the Middle East must be to the security of Israel, America’s strongest ally in the Middle East.

Barack and Joe Biden believe strongly in Israel’s right to protect its citizens. They have consistently supported foreign assistance to Israel. They have called for continuing U.S. cooperation with Israel in the development of missile defense systems.

Barack has nothing to hide: he has openly described his relationship with Rashid Khalidi:

“[Khalidi] is not one of my advisors; he’s not one of my foreign policy people. His kids went to the Lab school where my kids go as well. He is a respected scholar, although he vehemently disagrees with a lot of Israel’s policy…To pluck out one person who I know and who I’ve had a conversation with who has very different views than 900 of my friends and then to suggest that somehow that shows that maybe I’m not sufficiently pro-Israel, I think, is a very problematic stand to take…So we gotta be careful about guilt by association.”

Bipartisanship — getting along with people we disagree with — is something we prize in our politicians. For example, Barack has been widely praised for working with conservative Republican Senator Tom Coburn to pass a bill making government spending searchable over the Internet (Obama bio). So why should it be any different that Barack knows a respected scholar, former university colleague, and former neighbor who disagrees with him about Israel?

Smears, insults, and innuendo about the nature of Barack’s relationship with Khalidi are completely unfounded. Guilt-by-association is always a questionable tactic.

    Family, education and career

Khalidi was born in New York. He received a B.A. from Yale University, where he was a member of Wolf’s Head Society,[1] in 1970,[2] and a D. Phil. from Oxford University in 1974[3] and spent many years as a professor and director of both the Center for Middle Eastern Studies and the Center for International Studies at the University of Chicago before joining the Columbia faculty. He has also taught at Georgetown University, Lebanese University, and the American University of Beirut.

Khalidi is married to Mona Khalidi, Assistant Dean, Student Affairs; Assistant Director of Graduate Studies, School of International and Public Affairs[4] He is a member of the National Advisory Committee of the U.S. Interreligious Committee for Peace in the Middle East, which describes itself as “a national organization of Jews, Christians and Muslims dedicated to dialogue, education and advocacy for peace based on the deepest teachings of the three religious traditions.”[5]

He is member of the Board of Sponsors of The Palestine-Israel Journal, a publication founded by Ziad AbuZayyad and Victor Cygielman, prominent Palestinian and Israeli journalists.

He is founding trustee of The Center for Palestine Research and Studies.

Princeton University let it be known that it was considering hiring Khalidi in 2005.[6] However, a controversy developed over Khalidi’s political involvements and no job offer was made.[7]

    Academic work

Khalidi’s research covers primarily the history of the modern Middle East. He focuses on the countries of the southern and eastern Mediterranean, with an eye to the emergence of various national identities and the role played by external powers in their development. He also researches the impact of the press on forming new senses of community, the role of education in the construction of political identity, and in the way narratives have developed over the past centuries in the region.[3] Michael C. Hudson, director of the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies at Georgetown, describes Khalidi as “preeminent in his field.”[8] He served as President of the Middle East Studies Association of North America in 1994. Khalidi is currently editor of the Journal of Palestine Studies.

Maybe you won’t get to hear the tape because it’s none of your business? Did you only listen to half of the report where they said WHY the tape would not be released or do you want to force them to do that because you need some more ammo to spread more lies? :sarcasm:

You guys really ought to read up on the history of the US income tax, the rates and that it’s always been progressive. Keep either pretending or wrongfully panicking that what obama is talking about is any different than the last 100 years of US tax policy. The income tax was created to get revenue from the rich!

    i repost:

The progressive (termed because your tax rate progresses with your income) tax system has been around in the US since the 16th amendment was passed in 1913. In fact it only targeted the wealthy.

    Quote:
By 1913, 36 States had ratified the 16th Amendment to the Constitution. In October, Congress passed a new income tax law with rates beginning at 1 percent and rising to 7 percent for taxpayers with income in excess of $500,000. Less than 1 percent of the population paid income tax at the time. Form 1040 was introduced as the standard tax reporting form and, though changed in many ways over the years, remains in use today.

    xxxhttp://www.ustreas.gov/education/fact-sheets/taxes/ustax.shtml

Today republicans are complaining that 40% of people in the US end paying no income taxes because they make too little. So today 60 times as many American by percant/per capita pay income taxes than when first enacted.

Does that sound like socialism to anyone else?
