    Powell supports Obama.

    Says
mccain keeps shifting for an economic plan
palin isn’t ready to be president

We can only guess the fox/republican/mccain spin on this.

Retired Gen. Colin Powell, once considered a potential running mate for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), now may endorse his opponent, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), according to Republican sources. But an air of mystery surrounds Powell’s planned live appearance Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” and no one is sure what he will say.

Powell’s unassailable national security credentials could sway voters who are vacillating about whether Obama is ready to be commander in chief, and his endorsement of the Illinois senator would make a national security emphasis by McCain in the election’s closing days extremely difficult.

Powell, 71, a professional soldier for 35 years, has advised the last three Republican presidents.

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell has endorsed Barack Obama for President of the United States.

The move is a huge boost for Democrat Mr Obama as Mr Powell served under current President George Bush during his first term.

He had also been talked about as a possible running mate for Mr Obama’s Republican rival John McCain, a man with whom he had worked for many years.

Sky’s Ian Woods, reporting from Washington, said the decision was a “major setback” for the McCain campaign.

Appearing on NBC’s Meet The Press, Mr Powell described Mr Obama as a “transformational figure”.

He said that both he and Mr McCain were qualified to be Commander-in-Chief but that Mr Obama was more suited to dealing with the current economic problems.

He criticised the McCain campaign and said there had been a shift to the right in the Republican party.

He also said that he did not believe that Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin was ready to be President.

The news came as it was revealed that Mr Obama raised more than $150m (£87m) for his campaign in September, breaking the record of $66m (£38m) he set the previous month.

Unlike his Republican rival John McCain, Mr Obama chose not to accept public funding for his campaign, leaving him free to raise millions privately.

The amount of money raised has allowed him to blanket the airwaves with advertising in the run-up to the November 4 poll.

Mr Obama’s campaign has purchased a half-hour prime-time television slot on October 29, six days before the election, to make its final push.

His campaign added 620,000 new donors last month to bring the total to 3.1 million.

The average donation for the month was less than $100 (£58).

After the way they went after Obama, I have no doubt that they would ‘attack’ Powell for his endorsment even though he is on ‘their’ side. :D

I’m waiting to see how this goes down as well.

This is a really strong endorsement

you can watch the video here

I don’t think any of the endorsements in the newspapers I’ve read made as convincing a case for electing Obama as Colin Powell made in this interview.

I support Michael Phelps for president, he’s the perfect candidate

He’s liked by every American, or at least respected by everyone, he’s a winner, a competitor, and a hard worker, he’s razor sharp and in his prime, and if America should sink to the bottom of the ocean, he would be the most likely survivor

I don’t think Powell could endorse anyone else but Obama. Bush gave him no choice when he made Powell the scape goat for the invasion of Iraq.(what weapons of mass destruction?) I hope to see the US back to it’s old glory like the Clinton years.

I just hope the people make the right choice and send Palin back to Alaska.

    Just my 2 cents:wink-wink

It is funny watching u all concern yourselves with things u have no control over, and outcomes that have already been determined.

There is little doubt in my mind that Obama will win this election, u could’ve put Hitler up there vs McCain and he’d probably win.

Nothing is gonna ever change, America is still under British control, and Obama is still a slave to the same masters.

The only reason u think you’re better off with the Democrats is because they get all that Muslim money, u can’t hide the fact that the Democrats are Muslims serving the will of the British, your cover has been blown.

Now go get your coin from the Sultan of Brunei in exchange for the blood of America and live nice just a little bit longer.

    The collector is waiting

Nick stop being a nudge. If you have something relevant to add to the disucssion, fine but the constant flaming of America gets old.
