Terms and Conditions
Hi Travis,
I was looking at possibly signing up with Betus when I came across this clause in your terms and conditions:
"You will be paid commissions for the lifetime of your player as long as you refer at least 5 legitimate depositing players during each 3 month rolling period. If any 3-month time period should lapse in which you do not refer at least 5 players, you will forfeit the right to any future commissions on players referred previously and your affiliate account will be closed"
How flexible or rigid is this policy followed? Have Betus closed accounts under these terms in situations where affiliates have previously brought players to the book.
These are very restrictive terms considering the industry is beset with payment processing problems and other difficulties in getting new players in particularly US players signed up post UIEGA. - 09-09-2008 07:13 PM #2Guest Affilaite Manager

Terms and Conditions - BetUS Affiliate Program
Hi,
This is becoming a more common question recently. We’ve updated our T&C’s a few times this year to be more in tune with our affiliates. The reason why we have this is as a safe guard for extreme circumstances of program abuse. The team here agrees that if would be harsh to simply cut-off affiliates for not meeting the minimum goal that we set out. We want to encourage affiliates, not discourage potential affiliates or affiliate who have seasonal traffic or a bad year. The statement is intended for discouraging affiliates who only briefly promote our site for a short period and show no other results ever and expect to be paid month over month year over year for that minimal amount of work they contributed. That’s not what our programs about and it certainly isn’t a win/win situation. We do have several affiliates who even fall close to this category, who are not actively promoting us or who have simply let their site fall to the wasteland as they no longer maintain it and we typically still do not cut these affiliates off either. What we hope for is that they will again regain their interest and start actively promoting us. Perhaps they need a nudge from their affiliate manager to encourage them to be more attentive to their marketing efforts and keep their site(s) updated. In extreme cases usually the affiliate information we have is out dated and we’ll need to look at closing their account. The bottom line is that we do not cut off affiliates just because they haven’t referred a player in a while.
Best regards,
Travis

Travis,
What term updates are you talking about for this year? The only recent updates are:
http://www.affiliateguarddog.com/terms-changes/?cat=102
And I can attest to Travis not shutting down my affiliate account
I have many players in there, but no revenues to speak of for awhile. I'm sure I have hit the 3 month spot.
I will say, though, that any type of minimum player rule is considered predatory in the affiliate world and should be removed from the terms and conditions. Maybe we will talk more when Affiliate Guard Dog moves towards the poker and sports affiliate programs. - 09-10-2008 05:43 PM #4Guest Affilaite Manager

Affiliate account update
Hi Guys,
Thanks for adding your 2 cents. I see the point and worry some affiliates might have by this statement. The objective of that statement isn't to be predetory or punish affiliates. I would like you to know that we are trying to achieve a very basic goal and make our relationship be a win/win situation for both sides. There are accounts that have been earning revenues since 2002 and only have 10 total players in their account. There are cases where contact has been lost between the Affiliate and us for long periods of time. In most cases it's us reaching out to them about them needing to update their paymnet information which we will carrying over month over month until we hear from them. If we do not hear from them after a year and their site is sitting dead with no other email addresses to contact them. I'm pretty sure I'd eventually shut down the account. I don't think this is unreasonable.
Thanks,
Travis
