Flooded with link requests
I am receiving like 30 to 40 generic link requests a day, like these:
Hello,
I just came across your website and I want to ask if I can purchase a text link on your website.
Please e-mail me back and I will send you additional information.
Best Regards,

And on and on and on. None of the signed names match the sender's names, most don't have any names on them at all. They certainly don't mention their websites.Dear Webmaster,

I get a handful a day. I once replied to a couple but never heard anything back. Wonder what they're up to? Really pointless.

I haven't replied to any of them, I too think they may just be some email verification process.

I received a bunch of them as well, but they seem to have stopped lately.

at that point I assumed it was phishing?

Some are legit but i think they are using an automated script to send email to sites rankning for certain phrases.
maybe it does a quick whois and grabs email and sends...
i replied to one and got reply but my price was too high for link sale haha so they offered link exchange...Play Solitaire or you can Play Slotmachine Games and find casinos with big bonuses

I replied too but was careful with my wording. I think it might be a big script that wants to get you to say you sell links and then narc you out, to thin the fields (just to get everyone paranoid) - and also, I'm paranoid. Interesting they only have been targeting my not so nice sites....
