This is an old thread and I don't have it anymore.

But the topic is still spot on. I get a bunch of requests daily. Due to the spammy nature of a lot of them, I never even look at any of them and just delete.

As a matter of fact I have stopped all link exchanges, period.

Another example of how a few bad eggs can spoil it for all of us.

But I have to say I don't miss the headaches of trying to keep links current.

I am about to hire my 16 year old as a link manager for the site lol it gives him something to do and I think they are gonna give him credit in school for it!

None the less the linking thing is pretty out of hand... lots of underhanded things have gone on that I am sure those that have done it think they got away with something but lets hope karma comes to in the head lol

None the less getting emails to link is a good thing IMO for sure! Make a nice standard reply pointing them to where to add their link.

Think of it as panning or whatever the gold miners used to do.. you will go through A LOT of dirt but eventually will find a nice golden website you were glad you linked to. I am talking 1 out of 100 though and alot of time but what if in the end links were king again and if you dont have em your SOL?

"I have plenty of incoming links to my site" - ever experienced turnover or natural attrition? do you think you will always have these links?

IMO never stop working on your linkspages no matter what google tells you.

This is a problem with all industries.
3 ways scammers working for the boss, fake link builders, etc, etc.

As a result link exchange has bad press, and we can't reap the benefits of the legitimate swaps.

What i do is let them build up over time because you dont want to be looking through every day. Then send a mass emails to all the webmasters that you are ready to exchange links and to send a list of there sites w/ pr and work from there to what suits you best.
