CAP Australia?
In London, several of us thought it would be cool to have a CAP event in Australia.
What does everyone else think? Would you be interested in attending a CAP event in Australia?

I would love to have enough support from affiliates to "force" us to organise this - It would be amazing!! Maybe we could do something small for the first one....only question is when could you put it??

OMG. I almost fell OUT OF MY CHAIR when I read CAP Australia....
That would be unreal.. and it would mean there would be no excuse for me not being there!!! I would finally get to meet you guys!
I know, I know... you're thinking about the long flight.. well think about it this way... for us Aussies to go anywhere out of the country (apart from NZ of course) is at least a 6 hour flight... AT LEAST. And I think that gets us to somewhere like Vanuhatu.. To get to Thailand is about 9 hours I believe, maybe 10... and well, to get to the states or Europe, double it at least...
So really, one event where you'd have to sit on a plane for that long really isn't that bad.
C'mon! -

I would rather do a CAP, Cape Town there are so many more affiliate managers there
I would do the Aussie one for sure too but damn the cost of the flight is crazy for just a few days, I would have to extend it for at least a week

The cost of flights is ridiculous... I agree with you.. Don't blame you guys for not wanting to come down here for that reason... but seriously if you stayed here for a week you wouldn't regret it

Besides that, I'm pretty much convinced that a conference in Oz is the only way I'll actually get to one... Downfall of only having 2 of us

CAP Australia would be great for us - just 2-3 hours away.
We can probably do it for $4-5K for the pair of us.

---
The "Tyranny of Distance" means that CAP Euro is 40+ hours away after two stopovers - and that means business class fares and the total cost of $25-30K for the week for two people. Just not a good return on investment.

CAP South Africa holds limited appeal, as does CAP Canada, for similar travel reasons ... although June 2010 of South Africa might be a special case (co-inciding with the World Cup).
... and I'm not really convinced that as a sports betting affiliate I wanna try the "arrest run" of visiting the US again. (otherwise a CAP Hawaii might have been a suggestion popular with many).

However, I'm aware that my travel concerns about Europe/Canada will be matched by Northern Hemisphere affiliates in thinking about going to Australia.
Perhaps CAP numbers and affiliates have got so big now that it can stand having regionalised events?Last edited by TheGooner; 02-06-2008 at 07:13 PM.
