If you're going to do a cruise why not do in the Caribbean?
I know a lot of people didn't go to spring break in the Bahamas because of the time of the year. I almost did not go because of this. It felt a little silly leaving warm North America (might be tough for people in california and Florida to relate) during the short summer to go to the Bahamas during rainy season. - 01-08-2008 08:55 AM #14Member

Same here. I’m a little puzzled that there is an event in London during the worst possible weather and trips to warm places in the middle in summer (almost). London is a very beautiful place in spring/summer and for us northern Europeans the short summer is valuable.
A suggestion for next year is to switch. Let’s go to Bahamas in the middle of the rainy winter and visit London when the weather is better.
A cruise in the Med would be really, really nice though. - 01-08-2008 10:04 AM #15
The reason we do have London in Jan was to piggy back the ICE exhibition which many operators and some affiliates attended already so it made sense to put them together because it means you get two shows for one and more parties witghout having to make two trips - We did the same with Barcelona in October piggy backing EIG
That said - It doesn't have to be this way - We can move events around however we have to ensure two things if we do:
1. Affiliates still come in their high numbers as this means operators will still sponsor and exhibit thus making it a viable event and importantly free for affiliates
2. Operators will still come (even if they have to make two trips) and exhibit/sponsor making it a viable event and importantly free for affiliates
The important thing we all know is affiliates come first - It is how CAP has always done business, whether it is a magazine, portal, or event you always are the priority and we have to make the proposal to you as attractive as possible whether this be parties and free entry or free subscriptions because your buy in is what makes the operators step up.
SO
If enough people want to see changes - we could look at that these no problem. Some things like Barcelona are already signed up so we can't change them but going forward we could move things around in 2009iGB Affiliate - Events, Videos and Magazines for the iGaming Affiliate Market

I can see the positive sides of it. Especially when it comes to ride on ICE and EIG. I just thought about the weather, England, in january *shiver*
I think Barcelona was very nice in every way. The hotell was really nice, just to bad it was a bit off. But overall, top notch.
I think the issue is about location outside Europe or not. As you said, one major thing about CAP is about meeting up and having a good time togheter. Can we do this and at the same time have a really nice location, its a plus. - 01-08-2008 11:15 AM #17Moderator - Big Kahuna

I really don't like January in London - not at all. The Bahamas - I was cool with that. Barcelona - not being a young macho male I didn't feel safe in the streets after all the reports of muggings.
But - the piggybacking is really a big part of what makes the conferences so successful.
There are quite a few of them, and piggybacking might be achieved by choosing some others around the globe.
Here are some: http://www.ateonline.co.uk/103/index.php
Looks like Malta is getting popular - sounds like fun. But there are also summer conferences in London.
The thing is - both affiliates and programs have a budget for these type things. Jetsetting is a fun way of life, but it's also expensive.
The easiest way to assure a successful conference is to piggiback with the most popular ones, and that is what CAP is doing, and it sure works.
I'd rather go to a conference in a venue I am not fond of that has everyone attending whom I might want to talk to. There will always be fun things to do, no matter where we are. I have never been to a well attended industry conference that didn't rock. No matter where and when it was.dominique

Guys let's not forget we are spoiled: CAP organizing all this great stuff is really something to value, so no matter if the weather is a little worse, think of the cost and hard work for CAP to organize all this stuff for us.
Alex, some questions though most people are probably interested in:
1. If we will go on a med cruise (which is really cool), how much would it cost and how long will it take? Where do you plan to stop (which cities?)
2. Do you leave enough room for people to attend to CAC Moscow (7-8 June) ?
3. I heard something about a PAP Conference in Sweden, any more news on that one (dates, plans)
4. Can you tell us about the plans next year?
Please try to answer all questions as detailed as possible. Lot's of affiliates like to know the future
