    Bodog Poker Review

    General Information

Bodog has been a part of the online gambling industry since 1995 with great sports books and an exciting casino. To add to all of their great accomplishments, they have recently added poker to their enterprise! You may have seen the many television commercials boasting Bodog as one of the largest online poker rooms available today and growing bigger and stronger every day! Bodog is not a part of any of the online poker networks instead they are an independent online poker room, making a great reputation for themselves!

Although Bodog’s player volume is not the highest you will find in online poker room, with their amazing marketing department Bodog’s poker room is really making a splash in the online poker market. Although most of the player base at Bodog poker room is based around No Limit Texas Holdem in the low to medium blind stakes, there is a little something for everyone. If you are not feeling up to wagering that much there are also a variety of games with micro limits!

    Detailed Review

Software and Graphics: Bodog introduced their new online poker software in the beginning of January 2006. The new software; Bodog 2.0 has an amazingly easy playability level, runs quickly and is easy on the ears and eyes. You will find a wide variety of options available that will allow you to customize your experience at Bodog Poker Room and make it a more comfortable atmosphere for you. In the Bodog poker lobby there are many stats you can look at before deciding on a table to play at. Before choosing your table you will be able to view the percentages of flops seen, average pot size etc. for each individual table.

Once you have decided on a table and taken your seat, there are many more stats for you to help improve your poker game such as; what percentage of times do you pay to see the flop, what is your win percentage, are you a raiser, re-raiser and so on. You will also have the opportunity to keep player notes. These can come in handy for future play so that the next time you sit down to play with them there will be a N by their name and you will know not only that you have played this player before but if they are a fish, an aggressive player, or little tells that you noticed the last time you played with them.

Bodog’s 2.0 version allows you to multi-table with up to 3 tables at a time. You will always find yourself seated at the center seat at the poker table reguardless of your actual position. You may or may not like this style, personally I prefer the brick and mortar style that allows me to come to the table and choose my own seat. One thing that I found greatly helpful was the ability to see all three tables I was playing at in one window. This is much more convenient compared to having to shuffle your tables and hoping not to miss a turn.

Ring Tables: Although traffic is slower than some of the older poker rooms, or poker rooms that are a part of a network, remember that Bodog is still in their growing stages and is improving quite quickly. Play at the Bodog ring tables are still fairly limited on micro to medium stake levels of No Limit Texas Holdem. Not to say that you will be unable to find games with higher level stakes, but you will not find as wide of a variety that is available at other online poker rooms.

Multi Table Tourneys: You will find a nice variety of multi table tournaments available at Bodog Poker room. There will be tourneys with rebuys and add ons (this is great if there wasn’t a big prize pool in the beginning of the tourney), turbo style games(for those of you that don’t like waiting and just want to play), tourneys with guaranteed prize pools and also many satellite tournaments to win seats in major poker events ie: the WSOP(World Series of Poker). If you are freeroll lover, you may be disappointed as Bodog does not offer frequent freerolls, and when there is a scheduled freeroll, you generally need Bodog player points to enter.

Competition: If you are looking for some good old soft play than Bodog is the poker room for you! There are plenty of tables for you to choose from with some amazing soft play stats. You will be able to check from the lobby for the percentage of flops seen at each table. The average percentage of flops seen at Bodog is 50% but it is not uncommon to find percentages of up to 80% regularly.

Overall Traffic: As mentioned before, the majority of traffic at Bodog poker room is at the micro to medium level stake games. You won’t find a great number of players in the late evening and night time hours, however there is a hefty number of players during the morning and early afternoon. Throughout the year there has been a steady increase in the traffic at Bodog poker room and it can be attributed to the wonderful marketing team!

Banking: You will find most of the common banking options available at Bodog, although the variety could be wider, most players will find their deposit and withdrawal options amongst the norm for online gambling.

Deposit Options: NETeller, FirePay, MyCitadel, Checks, Bank Drafts, Central Coin and most major credit cards.

Withdrawal Options: NETeller(offering instant payout), Checks and eChecks.

Promotions: Bodog’s bonuses are fairly minor compared to many other online poker rooms. They do not constantly offer a special first time deposit bonus, instead they have a regular 10% deposit bonus no matter how many times you have deposited.

Support: You will find the support team at Bodog Poker to be very quick, knowledgeable and efficient. You can contact support via their toll free telephone number or email. The support team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The email response time is not the best I have experienced, yet not the worst either, you will generally have an answer within 24 hours.

About Bodog: Bodog’s home headquarters are located in sunny San Jose, Costa Rica. eGaming Review Magazine named Bodog 7th most influential in the online gaming industry. There are approximately 6 billion dollars in wagers processed at Bodog annually and the company was recently appraised at more than 1 billion dollars! Bodog became the first company of its nature to be trademarked in the United States. Bodog.com is licensed in Costa Rica, Kahnawake and the United Kingdom.

Conclusion: Bodog is an amazing enterprise in the online gaming industry, proving themselves to their players and competitors time and time again. The traffic in the higher stakes has much room for improvement, but with the way Bodog has shown growth I do not see this as a major problem for them. Bodog.com has shown great progress and improvement in their site and software so far, providing a great reason that Bodog.com is destined to stand above the rest and it can only get better! It is definitely worth it to give Bodog a second look and a try.
