Here’s a really dumb question from a webbie newbie: what does SERP stand for?

I can figure out a lot of these abbrev’s, but not all!

I know I can’t be the only one out here who isn’t familiar with the lingo, I’m just the only one dumb enough to admit it………

    …..d’oh!

And while we’re at it, would someone please make a list of abbreviations with corresponding definitions. heh

(please, no pointing and laughin’ k?)

BB1webs – Your right on CPM – basically cost per 1000 impressions which is the standard for ad buying.

Some more internet marketing related ones…

    CPA – Cost Per Acquisition
    SEM – Search Engine Marketing
    SEP – Search Engine Positioning
    PFI – Pay for inclusion
PR – Page Rank (applies to individual pages on Google)
    SE – Search Engine

lastly, the one that best describes the explanation disgruntled affiliates get from affiliate programs when things aren’t going well…

Fergie thanks for bringing this up, I think this thread has developed into an excellent tool for Newbies who wonder about all the abreviated terms we tend to throw around, but are reluctant to ask.

    Well done all!

CPM = cost per mille (thousand).

I think it is derived from French.

    Thanks whoiscasino…

I think once the list grows long enough I will create a permanant doc and place it on the main site.

While it seems basic to advanced webmasters to newbies a simple glossary of these terms will be a big help.
