Default Sportingbet's former chairman ordered released

An interesting bit of news (even though it doesn't matter much now!)

Be nice to know on what grounds they dismissed him on... curious why they are giving up on this one?

mmm . this came out a few days ago.

Its all to do with the face that the charge of "gambling by computer" is only an offence in Louisiana and the New York judge said there was not federal mandate to justifiy the warrant for extradition.

I note that the article says ... "Louisiana's warrant to arrest ****s on the same charges remains active" so if Peter ****s did ever visit Louisiana then they would arrest him there.

So I don't think that anyone "gave up on it" - simply that the reach of Louisiana law does not extend beyond state boundaries.

(which is just as well as we're all probably guilty of "gambling by computer" ).
