    Quick and easy:

Are site maps necessary for forums?

I can imagine a huge forum (like CAP) would take A LONG time to uplaod a site map for.

    Honestly?
Why would you want all your forum threads palced front and centre in Google?

I see some forums somehow get high spots in google and I wonder why as they’re usually only slightly related to the topic.

I’d include you main forum – and perhaps the TOPIC head pages – but not every single thread.

Let google spider the threads in the normal way.

Most of the time it is the archive VB produces for threads that get listed in SE for topics etc.
    Here is CAP’s http://www.casinoaffiliateprograms.com/bb/archive/

I honestly dont think that if you have an active forum that you would have time to continuously monitor the forum for new threads & then create them in your site map. I agree with theGooner – TOPIC head pages, at the very most otherwise you’ll be buried in updates.

I use a crawler to generate, and upload my sitemap. It includes every page.. unless I exlude it, I exclude memberlists and profiles, and that’s about it. The more pages google finds, the happier I am!
