    I dislike them because they foster spamming. Anyone who wants to win basically has to spam the SEs. Not good for the industry, IMO.

    The rules have nothing to prevent spamdexing from taking place and winning.

    This is totally unethical. and very hurtful to the industry.

    In my opinion, signature links aren’t unethical. They don’t hurt the industry.

    At first glance it would seem that way, but just as spamdexing can fill the SERPS up with unrelated BS, spamming multiple signature links (8 to one site)can work in much the same way.

    Signatures are generally good. I use them and its not perceived as an unethical practice UNLESS its abused. IE a poster ONLY posts crap just to get the links in their signs displayed at Message Boards, Guest Books or blogs.
