Australia Through to the Next Round of the World Cup! Ole Ole Ole
Hi all!
Not sure if anyone has been following the World Cup but our team, Australia, only an hour ago made it through to the next round by drawing with Croatia.
Croatia is ranked 3rd in Euro (as far as I know) which means we have a pretty good chance of winning the World Cup.
This is the first time EVER that Australia has made it through to the next round. I hope that if your country did not make it to the cup or didn't qualify for the next round, you will help support our team. This could be a historical moment for us Aussies!
I'm so proud (so proud that I shed a tear when the full time whistle blew)!

As people know I'm always one to quickly jump on board with any winning Australian team. I just wish the games weren't in the wee hours of the morning. Tuesday at 2:00am might be a bit tough.

Believe it or not, I was a goalie for years in my youth. Was my favorite sport and I played on an all boy's team playing against all boy's.
I don't keep track these days though...... Good luck!dominique

Hello, sorry to burst your bubble, but your chances of knocking off italy in the playoffs next time out are near impossible
Croatia is an absolute piece of _ _ _ _ ...make no mistake about that...the ultimate pretender team, they couldnt score on a useless japan team who gave up 3 to australia and 4 to brazil...the only team they did score on was australia who played their pathetic croatian backup goalie, and who i suspect was screwing up on purpose to give his homies a chance...nobody could be that bad
On a positive note...coach hiddink has finished 4th in the past 2 world cups with korea and holland, and now he has australia fit and playing well...but no matter what anyone thinks, australia is still very cheap in many ways, and no matter how fit they are the lack of quality players will show against the big boys.
It's nice to dream, and i picked australia to qualify from that group along with brazil, because i knew how bad japan and croatia were...the top european teams are germany, holland, england, portugal, spain, italy...croatia is not in that league...big test next game vs italy...italy is a big boy in the soccer world and i won't bet on the aussies to knock them out
Looking at it this way...italy is a big step up in class from anything australia have played, with the exception of brazil, who just beat your australia 2-0 a few days ago...i expect italy will shutout australia and win pretty easy
but...
that's why they play the game
i know...not what you wanted to hear -

The coach has definitely earnt his money thus far....
My other half has a tshirt with a photo of the coach that says "Guus Your Daddy" - funny stuff...
Dom I used to play goalie back in the day too.. I got mistaken for a guy sometimes but can't say I played in an all guys team
May have been fun though -

I'm open to everyone's opinion. I do agree with some of your comments, however I do think Australia have a good chance of knocking out Italy... That's my opinion though... Perhaps we should bet on it

You wanna bet me...a guy dubbed el perfecto by his peers for his handicapping expertise...a guy who had a professional soccer career of over 10 years on 3 continents and whose name is ranked #1 on google for an outstanding soccer performance of almost a decade ago...
If i tell you Australia will get completely outclassed by italy...take it to the bank
But the World Cup is about dreams...however...you saying Australia has a good chance of winning this tournament is just absolute insanity
good luck though, i have nothing against any nation, i just call it as i see it, i don't really care who wins...germany, argentina, portugal, england, brazil, italy, spain, holland, would all whoop australia...you might get lucky and beat one of them, but thats improbable, but to outlast all of those teams is impossible...first of all, FIFA would never allow it, there is a lot of money invested in those big boys i mentioned...FIFA could care less about soccer in australia, fiji, and the soloman islands...that's just the way it is -
