888 Casino Update
Ok, I just got off the phone with Nicolas Lev and Brian K. from 888 casino and am happy to report the opening dialogue seems encouraging. 888 has indicated they are committed to working with CAP on a resolution to the valid concerns raised over the past several months by our affiliate members.
Nicolas will be sending me a statement of action on the proposed changes we discussed and I will post that at CAP and over at Casinomeister upon receipt.
The objective of these changes will be to eliminate the unethical marketing practices that have taken place in the past by removing the profit incentive for using them. These program changes coupled with public dialogue and private meetings I have scheduled with company representatives here in Orlando should lead to a postive resolution for 888, their affiliate partners and the industry as a whole.
I will report more as there are new developments.
It's important to note that we will be gauging progress based upon visible, verifiable and meaningful changes and not merely on public or private statements.
I have invited 888 to post here at CAP and update everyone on what's being done and to seek feedback. Please keep discussions focused on positive changes for the future rather then just rehashing mistakes of the past. I want them to feel confident that positive change will have a positive effect.

That is exactly the same impression I came away with.

I want to thank the members that have been active on this issue and are helping to bring about these positive changes for our industry.
Special thanks go to Dominique for her tireless work on this and every other project we have thrown at her. She is a fantastic asset to CAP and affiliates everywhere.
Props also go out to Greek39, Webzcas, Enginer and Bryan Bailey for their continous support and for helping us get the word out each and every day.
I am so proud of everyone for helping us scale a problem what looked like Mount Everest. You guys Rock!

No not yet. Nicolas is drafting a document, which I will post, outlining the exact steps being taken and proposed by 888. This will eliminate any confusion and serve as a roadmap towards the ultimate goals of cleaning up this Blackhat marketing problem.
It's important to note that this problem has been present for quite a long time and mianifests itself in so much material that it will definately take time to effect real changes, so lets be patient during that process.
I know some affiliates are treating this problem like an easter egg hunt and are having a ball presenting ANYTHING even bordering on SPAM as another smoking gun, but thats really not needed or helpful at this point. Lets try a calm approach and work towards change rather then just bitch slapping 888 over and over. If we continue to do that 10 times a day they most likely will view the white hat affiliate community as a lost cause and abandon efforts to rehabiliate things. - 06-28-2006 10:18 AM #8Member

Completely Agree with that and you have my full backing.I know some affiliates are treating this problem like an easter egg hunt and are having a ball presenting ANYTHING even bordering on SPAM as another smoking gun, but thats really not needed or helpful at this point. Webzcas you most be a psychic
This just in from Nicolas:
Dear Louis,
As discussed, the following outlines our new policies on our stance against illegal marketing activity:
1. Our Affiliate Program has instituted new contractual terms that clearly specify our stance against any illegal or unethical marketing practices, including "blog spamming" and "site scraping". To access them please use the following link to our new modified Terms and Conditions for 888.com Affiliates and note Section 2: https://affiliates.888.com/General/G...s.aspx?Lang=en
2. In a further attempt to clarify our policies, we have also added a notice in our Affiliate Program called our "Ethical Marketing Practice Policy” which is located at bottom of the affiliates home page: https://affiliates.888.com/Login/mainPage.aspx
3. To report any misbehavior of our affiliates please click the link called "email us" located on our Affiliate homepage, https://affiliates.888.com/Login/mainPage. Or, alternatively you can email any complaints to the following email address, reportspam@888.com.
4. Each email will be handled as following:
a) It will be investigated and if we determine that the affiliate has engaged in any sort of unethical activity as outlined in our Policies we will block the specific site and send a one-time warning to cease this behavior.
b) If after receipt of one warning the behavior repeats or persists then that affiliate's account will be blocked and any further payments due the affiliate will be suspended.
c) An email update reporting the result will then be sent to the person who emailed us the complaint within 72 hours.
4. To ensure efficient handling of all complaints, please use the e-mail above as we cannot follow complaints through forum posts on CAP or other Forums.
We look forward to working with our affiliates, potential affiliates, and CAP members in this endeavor. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or need more information.
Sincerely,
Nicolas Lev - 06-28-2006 11:11 AM #10Online Poker Moderator
