September 16, 2004 at 10:23 pm #655141AnonymousInactiveThat stuff makes me sick. Click fraud and parasites are two things I really hate…
September 16, 2004 at 10:32 pm #655144AnonymousInactiveI think a lot of us have known for some time that click fraud was real, but to the extent outlined in that review – DAMN that is boggling!
Just think of the tens of thousands you have thrown away in the last year and a half – makes ya want to strangle someone!
Here is a direct link to this authors review of PPC fraud ….
September 16, 2004 at 11:10 pm #655146AnonymousInactiveIt boggles the mind.
September 16, 2004 at 11:21 pm #655147AnonymousInactiveThat getpaidforum is currently under a denial of service attack. I think a sledge hammer to the servers would go a step better…
September 17, 2004 at 12:36 pm #655165AnonymousInactiveWell, now you know.
The question is – what are you going to do about it?
And the real problem isn’t GetPaidForum.
It’s http://cashcrusader.myecom.net/ and http://www.createasite4u.com/ and http://www.createyourgetpaid.com/ – or more specifically their customer list.
Check it out. That’s an awful lot of people being paid to click on your listings.
Enabled through the scripts these people sell, and collusion with the search engines.
The question is – are you going to just take it?
September 17, 2004 at 2:24 pm #655168AnonymousInactiveThat’s simply unbelievable.
These fu**ing people are destroying what was (yes, it’s already past) a great way to advertise products. Now if the pay-per-click scheme is going to disappear, what will be left to advertisers? Banners?
Quote:what are you going to do about it?One thing for sure, is to stop advertising to all suc*ers PPC, like, Goclick, Searchfeed et all.
Now I know where my last $500 have gone.
Disgusted! These people are criminals, point. They are simply thieves.
Ah, forgotten, Oystein, many thanks for all this exceptional work, it’s really worth reading. I just spent two hours of my work, but don’t think it was a loss.
September 17, 2004 at 5:00 pm #655178AnonymousInactiveWhere can one find a comprehensive listing of PPC engines being abused in this manner? Shall I assume that EVERY PPC is being taken advantage of and/or are in partnerships with the clickers/ptr programs?
Furthermore, what are THEY, ( the ppc engines) doing to prevent this and provide a legitimate service? What evidence do you are anyone else have that these scammers are direct cohorts and/or colluding with the search engines Google /overture/yahoo/any-all PPC ?
September 17, 2004 at 5:05 pm #655179AnonymousInactiveThe real problem may not be getpaidforum, but they are just as deserving of my loathing as the rest of that industry.
As an advertiser, I likely do what most do: monitor my logs, report fraudulent activity, issue chargebacks in case of irreconcilable disputes and report my findings about the good, the bad and the ugly of PPC on the various message boards I participate in.
As a group, we advertisers are getting screwed. Click fraud is as pervasive, if not more so, than parasiteware, but less understood and a much more direct attack on our bottom lines. As a group, we could likely put enough pressure on the PPC industry to force steps similar to what the affiliate networks are trying with their code of conduct for publishers. It’s a bit too little and too late, but it’s clear the pressure has had an effect.
A class action suit might be effective, as will continuing to spread the word, including to the people participating in these programs. Organized letters to the FCC from industry organizations and lobbying could also have an effect…
September 17, 2004 at 5:13 pm #655181AnonymousInactiveThank you for this very informative post. I have been advertising my sites on the PPCs for over 4 years now. The amount of fraud has increased substantially over the course of the past two years. The fraud clicks are tremendous and ever increasing month after month. The ppcs allow this fraud because they make more money themselves. The amount of legitiment traffic that could be sent by the remaining ppcs that allow online gambling ads would be approx. only 10% or less of what they show sending. Bottom-line is ROI is evaporating from ppc ad campaigns to the extent that most advertisers left will scale back or discontinue buying ppc clicks. Several of us have complained many times to our ppc reps only to get bullshit answers time in and again. As far as good advertising resources on the Internet, there is none in my opinion at this time. There is so much fraud on the Internet that it is sickening. In the long run, I can’t help but to believe that the ppcs will lose in the end.
September 17, 2004 at 7:57 pm #655188AnonymousInactiveErr, consider this:
http://www.supertop100.com/ppc/ – actually just want http://www.supertop100.com:81/ppc/r0.shtml – that’s one of the lists of the PPC engines promoted through the Paid-To “industry”.
Any of them look familiar?
And maybe you’d want to look at
And if they’re doing it to Google and getting away with it – do you think anywhere else is safe?
I’m fairly sure I wasn’t meant to see this either – there was a break in the redirect chain…
Yeah, sorry about that – I probably cost some of you some money while doing the research.
But as far as I can tell, they’re all doing sweet fuck-all about it. I certainly didn’t get any reaction out of Google when I informed them.
By the way – do you promote any pharmacies or know anyone who does?
They might be interested too – they’re also a target since drugs are competitive high-bid keywords.
did 4 searches before i hit a search with more then 0,007….How are you suppose to raise the point value if we can’t even click a result high enough? something to think about perhaps… And (edit post) i was so bright to first click the 3,6c link and than the older searches so i did the most expensive link first (moving) than xanax, bingo, painkillerhope this engine will bring in good money
That wasn’t posted at GPF. That was said in a private forum attached to one of these programs today. So killing GPF is pointless – they’ll insulate and keep on stealing from you and anyone else who uses PPC.
Fun, huh?
Consider this, by the way: Mesothelioma costs $60.01 per click on Overture. Overture feeds out to PTR through at least one channel.
Know any good class-action lawyers? Maybe they’d be interested to learn what they’re paying for…
September 17, 2004 at 8:19 pm #655189AnonymousInactiveGPF – Thats fucking insane! All these freaking morons running around clicking on links getting a few measly cents and raping our pockets!
Id love to be in arms reach of any of these PPC engines that are using these tactics to steal from us! :cuss:
I have been curious about Goclick since I started using them in March of this year! Now I know !!!!
I guess since I hadnt used PPC prior to this year I have been living under a rock – totally unaware of that lifestyle! That GPF site is HOT over 230 current members logged in! DAMN!
September 17, 2004 at 8:41 pm #655190AnonymousInactiveI quit using PPC the beginning of this year. I suffered at first – I am doing fine without them now. I am not ging back.
September 17, 2004 at 8:52 pm #655192AnonymousInactiveI rely almost exclusively on PPC for my traffic. I too am moving away from this as quickly as possible.
This doesn’t change how to run a successful PPC campaign though. You have to track and test ruthlessly and obssessively to make sure you’re receiving an ROI.
