I have promoted a program that has all of the top positions on my homepage and I have gotten 264 clicks for the last month but I only got 4 downloads with 3 fun players and 1 new real player? Is this something I should be worried about? I have a few programs that are earning more and they are two pages deep in my website the ratio for most of my other programs is about 15 clicks per player…..This is only my second month and I had a better month then I anticipated but the casinos on my homepage seem like they should have a much better click/player conversion……Or am I just not giving the program a fair chance?

Your conversions do seem a little low for a targeted campaign.

However if all your doing is just running some banners it sounds about right to me.

    Which one is it?

It’s Allstar, but I have tested it and seems ok, I see a lot of people here on CAP have no negative experiances with them so I am guessing just a bad month. By the way all of the traffic is from search engines or direct type in I am in the top ten in all of the SE’s for a bunch of non-competitive keywords so I was hoping the traffic I would be getting would at least convert better than that.

    Hi jason
I take it you have a poker / casino affiliate website. You should take every oportunity to advertise your site and leaving your url at the end of every message or post or blog you write is a must. I run a simillar affiliate website business and I come accross the same problems as you do m8. Do you have a forum? This is always helpful for bringing in members. You are going to have to be strict in your rulings in future as I myself am. You will get lots of hits from freerollers and never see a penny from them but thats part and parcel of the business. On the good side! The hits you get that do nothing for you are hits at the end of the day and all add up to your site recognition and hopefully they will get you a higher ranking. At least you are recognised by the fact that you get so many hits. You must be doing something right.:rockband: . Its just a matter of weeding out the good from the bad and that could take years m8. You should not expect your site( no matter how many hits you get) to take off and start earning properly within the first year. Its a long hard road and a lot of work for you ahead! You need to sell YOU along side the promotions you have. People want to feel comfortable where they go and only the administrator of a site or staff in a shop can make them feel this way. Thats when they will stay there and spend there. Good luck for the future m8 and dont forget, leave your address everywhere.

I agree with the. “You should take every oportunity to advertise your site”…

But I strongly disagree with the rest of your statement.

I been doing this affiliate thing for a very long time, I make good money at it and I can tell you without a doubt that leaving your URL/domain name ‘everywhere’ is not welcomed by most people or forums or just about anywhere else for that matter.:spam4:

Not to mention that google discounts most sig type links in most forums and posting boards, so not only are you annoying people by dropping your link, but your wasting your time and are most likley hurting yourself in the long run with the biggest search engine out there.

In my opinion, it is far better to spend a little more time making quality pages that users trust and want to return to, than to spend your time dropping unwanted links ‘everywhere’.

BTW – ‘dropping links everywhere’ is one reason why casino marketing has such a bad reputation…:hmmm:

Gordy-Yes I do have a forum it has about 25 members but it’s mostly all off-topic from my girlfriends advertising to people from her modeling agency so a bunch of horned up guys all drooling at her pictures. Not sure if it has helped conversions or not lol. I got a few new players that converted nicely these past few days since I started the thread so I am pretty happy I must be doing something right. Anymore comments would be great. Thanks again-

    Hi m8
Thanks for that and dont think im being horrid by dropping links, its just that Im new to this game as I said and I never realised that it was looked upon that harshly. I was told to drop my links everywhere especialy on e mails etc. Its just a matter of ignorance and now that I have read your post,I will think twice about my actions. I apreciate your comments and I hope you dont think bad of me now. I have learned a thing or 2 from reading this and its all part of the reason the forum is here. We learn from each other!
    Thanks again
    Gordy

    ps
when you say “the rest of my statement”. Do you mean the rest? because you only picked up on one point. And to put you straight on something. I never told him to drop unwanted links “everywhere” and I never said that I drop unwanted links “everywhere “so please get your facts right before you comment on someones words.

    Cheers

I think there is nothing wrong with posting links in your forum name… in fact every industry other than casino is 10x worse.. most poker forum’s do not allow signature’s because you can actually make money from a simple affiliate link if you post alot and the webmasters don’t like that.

A forum like this it is great to have our sites in the siggies because it is a bunch of webmasters showing off and reaching out for help, not spammers looking for rmp in all places a casino affiliate forum.

With that being said, I can show you PR7 guestbook links that are filled with everything from home mortgage to viagra, and yes some casino, but every other industry as well… it would take you two minutes to get to the bottom of the page scrolling down there is so much spam… now that is a different story and in no way condone it.

Whether links in your signature are welcome or not depends entirely on the forum owner.

It’s his/her livingroom you are in for the party, and s/he has the right to say what goes.

Most forums allow non competing links in signatures, some allow even competing links. Read the forum rules.
